"Hi! My name is Karen D Hollister. I love making handmade books and art with papers, fibers and other materials.
I began paper & book making when my daughter Lizzy was just a baby and it has grown into not only a professional, but a passion. I design and create each piece in my studio. I am continually making new kinds of books, based upon my customer's need.
My favorite paper is the Nepalese Lokta Paper. It is an eco-friendly paper handmade from the fiber of the Daphne Shrub or Lokta Bush It gives my books a very organic feel & texture and is lovely to write on!! I use Lokta paper almost exclusively for the inside pages.
For the covers of my books I love to use a variety of papers including Lokta, Mulberry paper, also known as Kozo paper, Indian Cotton Papers, Mexican Amate Bark Paper, Momigami Papers, and Indian Khadi Papers
to name my favorites!
I use Indian Sari Silk Ribbon and recycled silk yard & fibers
for details on the books and art.
I love to incorporate many unique materials, like copper, gold leaf, charms and original drawings & illustrations to enhance the beautiful of the book.

Being able to Include her whimsical and always beautiful artwork in my books truly is an honor and usually makes an amazing addition to the style and theme of the book!

Hollister Books & Art are all
individual, unique & custom.
So, since each piece is an original, handmade piece of artwork in itself, prices vary.
